A car rebate is something that helps persuade a customer to do something, in this case buy a certain vehicle. Manufacturers offer auto incentives to help increase sales or to reduce excess inventory.

What types of auto incentives are there?

There are a number of different types of auto incentives offered. They can be in the form of cash-back, low-rate financing, or both.

When is the best time to capitalize on car rebates?

It used to be fall because that was when the new models started coming in; however, dealers are getting new models all the time. Still, late summer/early fall is a time when dealers start clearing their lots to make room for new cars.

What's the difference between a customer incentive and a dealer incentive?

Both incentives are offered by the manufacturer. The difference is that customer incentives are given directly to the customer, and dealer incentives are given to the dealer.

Which rebate should I take, cash back or low financing?
